Mount Saint Ursula students mark anniversary by marching in NYC parade

Mount Saint Ursula students marked the academy?s anniversary by marching in the New York City Saint Patrick?s Day Parade Thursday.

According to the academy, the girls from Mount Saint Ursula used to be in the parade every year but that tradition ended 50 years ago. The students were proud to be a part of the 244th annual parade this year. Many students say this Saint Patrick?s Day is about more than being Irish.

Mount Saint Ursula is celebrating 150 years of Bronx tradition. Academy officials say the actual anniversary is in October, but they will have a ceremony at Saint Patrick?s Cathedral in May.

Meanwhile, Mount Saint Ursula wasn?t the only Bronx academy showing their Irish spirit. Thousands cheered as Cardinal Spellman?s marching band walked by. They were followed by the Bronx Gaelic League, Manhattan College bagpipers and Fordham University.
