Bronx parents urged to get more involved in their children?s schooling

Bronx parents are being urged by the Department of Education to get more involved in their children?s schooling.

Department of Education officials want parents to get involved by nominating themselves for positions on the Community Education Council. The council was designed to give parents a voice. The council also allows parents the opportunity to have a hands on role in their children?s public schools.

The Department of Education extended the deadline to apply for council positions to March 19 so more Bronx residents can get involved in the initiative. In the past months, parents have been able to talk to council members about budget reforms and renovating schools.
