MTA announces plans to take over New York Bus Service in the Bronx
The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) announced Tuesday an agreement to take over the New York Bus Service which operates in the Bronx. This is the third of seven privately owned bus line the city plans to take over.
New York Bus Service has more than 10,000 riders in the Bronx. They operate 143 buses on six express routes between the Bronx and Manhattan. An official for the MTA says it will provide service to the same areas as New York Bus Service does once they close the transaction.
Commuters in the Bronx say they just want quality service. The MTA plans to close their transaction with New York Bus service by late summer.
