Report finds mental health system in the Bronx and city is failing
A state task force, led by Assemblyman Peter Rivera, released findings Tuesday that say the state mental health system in the Bronx and city is failing. Rivera, who also chairs the Assembly's Mental Hygiene Committee, says a huge array of problems plague the state's mental health system. He's calling for improvement in the use of current resources and a restructuring of the mental health bureaucracy. The task force also suggests that mental health patients would be better served by a system that's more sensitive to the many cultures and languages used in the Bronx.
