BX teacher accused of coercing ex-homeless man to take exam for him

A Bronx teacher who couldn't pass the state teaching exam himself is being charged with coercing a formerly homeless man to take the test for him. Authorities say 38-year-old Wayne Brightly bullied 58-year old Rubin Leitner to stand in for him during the test. Brightly supplied Leitner with fake identification and his Social Security card. Officials began to investigate when they noticed Brightly scored much higher on the most recent test than he had on previous attempts. Brightly, who taught at M.S. 142 in Baychester, has since been removed from his position and is working in a regional office.
