Saint Thomas Aquinas School principal fired after handing in resignation

The principal at one Bronx school was fired after handing in his resignation earlier this week. But parents say the principal is not the one who should resign. On Monday, Saint Thomas Aquinas School Principal Dr. Liotta sent a letter home to parents saying he was resigning July 31. In the letter, Liotta said he could no longer endure a setting where the children are not a priority. Days earlier, the smell of dead rodents and rat poison forced an evacuation at the school and spring break began two days early. Now parents say they want Liotta to stay on board and think Father Ato, the one who fired Liotta, should be removed. The archdiocese says Father Ato was within his rights to fire Liotta. They say a change needed to be made for the students and for the good of the school. The parents say they will appeal the archdiocese?s decision. There is no word yet on who will replace Liotta.
