Bronx community holding fundraiser for victim of drunk driving accident

While the Bronx District Attorney's office is working with the New York Police Department to keep drunk drivers off the streets, one community is trying to raise money for a DWI victim. In September of 2004, Veronica Centrowitz and her husband Rodger were driving north on the Major Deegan Expressway when a drunk driver hit them. Veronica is paralyzed from the neck down and spends hours everyday with therapists trying to regain use of her arms and legs. According to the police report, 21-year-old Jason McCormack was driving with a suspended license and was legally drunk at the time of the accident. McCormack?s 19-year-old friend also died in the crash. A fundraiser is being held in the Bronx for the Centrowitz family on Friday, April 1. They have also established a fund to help with medical bills.
