Community center in Morrisania may be closing its doors

A community center running programs for some of the Bronx?s neediest residents may have to close. The Multi-Service Center has been located on Reverend James Polite Avenue in Morrisania for 22 years. The center offers a variety of services for people in the area including teaching preschoolers how to speak English and finding homes for people infected with HIV. The building, however, is owned by the New York City Board of Education (BOE). Officials from the BOE say the center must move from the building by June 30 so they can make it into a school. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion said he would look into this situation and see what he could do to help.
