Bronx residents mourn the death of Pope John Paul II

Bronx residents mourn the passing of Pope John Paul II Saturday with special services. The pope passed away Saturday afternoon after suffering from complications of a urinary tract infection.

Bronx parishioners gathered to mourn the death of the pope across the Bronx area. Many said they had been following the pontiff?s condition for several days. Others say even in his last days when he was unable to leave his apartment in the Vatican, they still saw him as a leader.

Many Bronx Catholics said they came to church as soon as they heard about the pope's passing. They all said it is important to celebrate the life of a man who was very important to their faith.
