Residents take part in Fordham fundraiser to raise money for tsunami relief effort

The tsunami that ravaged Southeast Asia back in December happened a half world away, but distance is no barrier for Bronx residents who still want to help with the relief effort. Community Board Six held a concert at Fordham University Sunday. Local singing groups and dance troupes performed to raise funds for the American Red Cross.The board says the response from the Bronx community was so overwhelming they actually had to turn away some performing groups. American Idol contestant and Bronx resident Mario Vazquez also made a special appearance at the fundraiser.
