Police arrest members of four drug gangs operating out of Soundview
After receiving complaints from residents, police have brought down a major drug ring in Soundview. Police arrested members of four drug gangs operating out of the Bronx River Houses and Watson and Ward avenues. Now, two dozen drug dealers are off Bronx streets and facing decades behind bars. During the six-month investigation, undercover narcotics officers made more than 100 felony buys. Police say the gangs brought in more than $1 million a year by selling massive quantities of heroine, cocaine and crack. Police say the majority of the drugs were brought into the United States from Mexico. The Bronx district attorney will be prosecuting the cases, which all carry a sentence of 10 years or more in prison.
