A dozen Bronx residents to compete in 78th Annual Daily News Golden Gloves

A dozen Bronx residents will be among the 66 finalists looking for championships at the 78th Annual Daily News Golden Gloves finals. Last year?s runner up Orlando Fontanez is taking on last year?s 106-pound novice champion Daniel Martinez. Both are from the Bronx. Defending 132-pound women?s champion Melissa Hernandez from the Bronx is looking for her second-straight title. Bronx resident Maureen Shea, who helped train Hilary Swank for the movie "Million Dollar Baby," will compete in the 125-pound women?s finals. The event will be held at Madison Square Garden Thursday and Friday.
