Merchants at Bronx Terminal Market say they are being illegally evicted

Retail stores could soon replace merchants at the Bronx Terminal Market. On Tuesday, those merchants held a hearing with City Council members telling them they don't want to be split up and claim they are being illegally evicted. Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) and Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion agreed to help the merchants. Business owners, however, say so far that help has not arrived. A new developer has already signed a lease for the property. Lawyers representing the merchants have filed two lawsuits accusing the city of running an unfair bidding process.
