Parishioners gather in Longwood to pray for future of Catholic Church

Mourners gathered at Saint Athanasius Church in Longwood Friday for a service to remember the late pontiff. About 30 Bronx residents attended the morning Mass and many say they came to pray for the future of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest also asked the parishioners to pray for the members of the upcoming conclave of cardinals who will elect the next pope. During the sermon, the priest spoke of Pope John Paul II?s effect on the world, including his work with the poor and his love of peace. Related Articles:
