Olinville residents want neighborhood rezoned to limit overcrowding

Residents of Olinville want their neighborhood rezoned to limit overcrowding.

Olinville residents say the current zoning allows for large apartments to be built on land that originally housed one or two families. The Olinville Civic Association says it wants tighter restrictions on construction in the community. Residents say overcrowding lowers the quality of life.

The civic association says it has the support of the Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, in their effort to change the zoning in the area. Members say rezoning is necessary to preserve the character of the community, and hope to rezone the neighborhood in the next eight months.
