Appeals court ruling upholds stricter regulations for BX sex shops

An appeals court ruling Wednesday upholds stricter regulations for Bronx sex shops in residential areas.

The latest court ruling closes a loophole in the city zoning rules called the 60-40 law. Under the law zoning rules do not apply if businesses have 60 percent of its merchandise dedicated to non-sex items.

Mayor Bloomberg (R-NY) says the loophole in the law allows many sex shops to operate in residential areas. He hopes this new appeals court ruling of stricter regulations will close many shops.
