LSK Smoked Turkey Factory in Parkchester appeals to DEP to reopen

LSK Smoked Turkey Factory in Parkchester appealed to reopen their facility Friday after it was shut down this week. The city previously shut down LSK and ordered the factory to install an air filtration system because nearby residents complained of a smell. LSK complied and reopened. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), however, received more complaints about the smell and they returned to measure emissions and closed the factory Wednesday.DEP officials say they will inspect the factory over the weekend to make sure the appropriate changes have been made.
