Girl shot by stray bullet while standing in front of her Highbridge home

The 9-year-old Bronx girl hit by a stray bullet outside her Highbridge home may be released from the hospital as early as Monday.According to police, the girl was standing in front of her home on Nelson Avenue with her mother Sunday when she was hit by a stray bullet. Her father said he heard gunfire and saw a group of people running down the street. Police officers are still searching for the suspect responsible for the shooting.
