Roof of a Bronx apartment collapses on three young children

The roof of a Bronx apartment collapsed on three young children Saturday night. However, none of the children were injured.

Julia Devalle said she woke up Saturday night to screams coming from her daughter?s bedroom at her apartment on Taylor Ave. After rushing to her daughter?s room she found that the ceiling had collapsed on her two daughters and goddaughter.

Devalle says she has told the superintendent about cracks in the ceiling many times. She says nothing has ever been done about the ceiling or the exposed outlets and broken windows in her apartment.

The superintendent was unavailable for comment because he is in Puerto Rico. The Department of Housing, Preservation and Development inspected the apartment Sunday morning and issued its highest violation. The owners, CPR management, have 24 hours to fix the ceiling.
