Bronx Terminal Market merchants protest eviction on steps of City Hall

Small business advocacy groups and civic organizations boarded buses Tuesday to protest the eviction of Bronx Terminal Market merchants on the steps of City Hall. Owners of the 23 businesses that make up the market say a new development plan does not include or protect them. They say they are angry the city has not made plans for their businesses as the new developer moves in. The plan calls for a new retail company that will create hundreds of jobs. Merchants say they are not against development, but they want to be included in the plans. The market is scheduled to close on April 30, but merchants say they don?t plan on leaving.
