City officials say biggest increase of subway crime is in the Bronx

Officials say that crime is up 10 percent on city subways and Bronx rails are showing the highest increase.

Police say the theft of cell phones and iPods are to blame for the dramatic increase. According to authorities, there have already been more than 130 thefts this year and students seem to be the main target.

Police say they will continue to flood high crime areas with officers on platforms. Authorities say plain clothes officers will also be riding the trains to deter the thefts.
