Construction in Van Cortlandt Park may be causing poor air quality

Recent studies show a high rate of asthma in the Bronx and residents say construction in Van Cortlandt Park may be making things worse. Construction at the Croton Water Filtration Plant has caused an increase of dust in the area. Residents say they are concerned that the dust may be harmful. The Bronx borough president has called on the New York City Health Department and local hospitals to conduct a study that will monitor emergency room visits and other indicators of asthma in the area. People concerned about air quality can attend environmental meetings that are held monthly and open to the public.
