Soundview residents say private lot becoming problem

Residents in Soundview claim a private lot is becoming a public disturbance. They say the lot?s owner has trucks illegally parked with solid waste in them that release a foul smell.

The lot is located on Story Avenue. Residents say they?ve been fighting with the owner of the lot, Cheim Miller, since 2000. The Department of Buildings has fined Miller for having illegally parked trucks in the past.

Residents say they are also worried hazardous materials from the trucks are leaking into the ground. The lot is located next to a school, across from a bus stop and down the street from apartment buildings. Many say the odor from the trucks can be smelled in all three places.

The Departments of Sanitation and Environmental Protection is expected to send officials to investigate.
