Some Bronx Muslims say they have been the target of hate crimes

Hundreds of men attend prayer services at the North Bronx Islamic Center every day. Many worshipers say people have been harassing them as they enter and leave the mosque. Since September 11, 2001, Arabs and Muslims say they have been targets of hate crimes. The leader of the Islamic center says members are frequently defending themselves and they're concerned for their safety. According to the NYPD, bias crimes are down 10 percent citywide compared to the same time last year. Officials say in the Bronx, there have been no reports this year or last year of crimes that had to do with a victim's religion. Muslims say that?s because many of them are afraid to report the crimes.
