Translation unit will help non-English speaking parents in Bronx schools

The Department of Education is pouring more money than ever into translation services. City Council members say thousands of parents still can't read their child?s report card. Now, the Department of Education has created a special translation unit to address concerns of non-English speaking parents. The unit will translate important school documents, like report cards, into eight of the most commonly spoken languages. The City Council estimates nearly 200 different languages may be spoken within city schools.
