Test results show improvement in Bronx and city fourth-graders reading skills

Reading test results are in for Bronx and city schools and education officials are calling the news historic.Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) was at P.S. 33 in Fordham Wednesday to announce that fourth-graders are doing better in English Language Arts compared to last year. The number of students meeting the standards more than doubled, however, results for eighth-graders decreased throughout the city. While Bloomberg thanked teachers for they're help, both sides are still battling over a new teacher contract.
