Jacobi Medical Center neglects to notify at least 30 about elevated cancer risk

Officials from Jacobi Medical Center say at least 30 of the more than 300 women who weren?t notified about abnormal pap test results are at high risk for cancer. According to hospital officials, a clerical error and lack of oversight are to blame. Officials from the city's Health and Hospitals Corporation continue to investigate and a handful of employees have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. At this point, 29 of the 30 women with an elevated risk of cancer have been contacted by the hospital. Officials say anyone who had a pap test done at the hospital within the past 16 months should call 718-918-6514.
