Dozens gather to protest the building of a roller rink at Loreto Park in Morris Park

Dozens of residents gathered in Morris Park Saturday to protest the building of a roller rink at Loreto Park.

The Coalition for the Preservation of Loreto Park says not everyone will be able to enjoy the roller rink. The group adds the rink will force the softball leagues to find other fields.

Community Board 11?s district manager says the coalition doesn?t represent the majority of the Morris Park residents. He adds that most people are in favor of the changes because the park?s field is mostly used by adults, who don?t allow Bronx kids on it.

Though the neighborhood is divided about Loreto Park renovations, construction is still set to start in a few weeks. The renovations are expected to take six months and also include a new playground.
