Bronx residents upset over East 223rd and 224th changing directions
Some Bronx residents say they are upset over portions of East 223rd and 224th streets changing directions.
Residents say officials should have asked people in the neighborhood how they felt about the changes.
District Manager of Community Board 12, Carmen Angueira, says the idea came from Bronx residents in the area. She says many residents complained about cars speeding from Boston and Eastchester roads, then down the two residential streets. Angueira says the changes will make drivers unable to use the two streets as mini-highways, which should make residents happy.
The Department of Transportation chooses which streets undergo changes. Officials say they base their decisions on whether the changes ease traffic congestion and increase safety.
