Yankees' Joe Torre on hand for opening of domestic violence center in The Hub

Yankees General Manager Joe Torre visited Hostos Community College Thursday for the opening of his new domestic violence center. Bronx youths now have a ?safe room? to go when they need help dealing with domestic violence. Torre says he named the ?safe room? for his mother, Margaret, who was abused for years by his father. Margaret's Room will be staffed by a full-time counselor who will assist younger Bronx residents facing domestic violence issues. The counselor will also give sessions about prevention and abuse warning signs. The center will always be open for walk-ins; something some students say will unite Bronx youths in the face of abuse.
