Bronx soldiers who gave their lives in battle are remembered

Bronx soldiers who gave their lives fighting for their country were remembered with a special tribute in Woodlawn Saturday.

Every year volunteers go to Woodlawn Cemetery and place American flags on the graves of people who served our country. Volunteers say its important to never forget those who fought for the country to preserve freedom.

The flag placement is in honor of Memorial Day. In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday to be held on the last Monday in May.
