Health experts urge Bronx residents to take precautions in the sun

As the summer gets underway, residents in the Bronx are spending more time in the sun. Experts, however, are urging sunbathers to take precautions. Doctors say residents should always wear sunscreen and limit sun exposure during midday when rays are the strongest. They also say wear a hat and sunglasses that block UV rays. Experts say preventing and detecting skin cancer early can save lives. The American Academy of Dermatology provides free cancer screenings at various locations throughout the Bronx. The next screening will be held June 12 at Montefiore Medical Center and appointments are not necessary.
