Bronx officials host housing fair for first time homebuyers

Bronx officials hosted a housing fair Saturday in Morisania for first time home buyers.

A recent study shows that more than 60 percent of Americans own their home. Meanwhile, only 19 percent of Bronx residents are homeowners. Financial institutions, realtors and non-profit organizations gathered at a fair for first time homebuyers to educate the community about owning a home. One expert says home ownership can save people money in the long run.

A representative from Prudential Action Real Estate says Bronx residents should not be intimidated by the cost of homes. Many Bronx residents who attended the fair say they now feel more comfortable and confident with looking into purchasing a home for the first time.
