Breast cancer victims mark National Cancer Survivors Day at BX hospital

Many breast cancer survivors came together Sunday to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center.

Survivors shared their experience with cancer, but tried to keep a positive attitude and a smile on their faces. One counselor, who specializes in humor, spoke about how laughter can boost the immune system and lead to a healthier lifestyle. One Bronx survivor says smiling is what has helped her through a difficult time.

Organizers say people across the country came together to celebrate life at the 18th annual National Cancer Survivors Day.
