Bronx parents rally at City Hall calling for reduced speed limits around schools

Bronx parents, who say speeding drivers around public schools are jeopardizing their children?s safety, took their fight to City Hall Tuesday. More than 100 residents gathered at City Hall to present a proposal to Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY). It calls for traffic speeds to be reduced to 15 miles per hour around schools, additional speed bumps and school crossing signs. Parents say this is only the start of their fight. They're holding another rally on June 15 in the Bronx, where they expect nearly 600 people to show up in support of lower school speed limits.
