Wildcats stymied by Pirates in PSAL City Championship Game

Throughout this year?s baseball season, Walton High School was one of the best offensive teams in the city. Going into the PSAL City Championship Game against Tottenville, the Wildcats hoped to bang their way to the city title. Tottenville pitcher Andrew Costello, however, threw a brilliant game. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, allowing just one run and three hits. Costello struck out seven and led the Pirates to their third city title in five years. Despite the loss, Walton did get some good news. Senior Yancy Carty was named winner of the Sportsmanship Award.
