Teachers in the Bronx take issue of class size into their own hands
A coalition of advocacy groups has launched a petition drive to keep class sizes manageable and help Bronx students get the attention they deserve. As part of the petition blitz, Bronx teachers are gathering signatures at schools, transportation hubs and going door to door. They are hoping to get the city to pass a law that would require smaller class sizes in Bronx and city schools. The goal of the drive is to collect 45,000 signatures from registered New York City voters. Then education advocates could force a vote in November that would require smaller classes.
