Officials in the Bronx are getting together to combat the treatable disease, which runs rampant among children. Bronx officials have launched an initiative to teach residents more about treating asthma. They also want to offer better medical treatment for the more than 62,000 sufferers in the Bronx. However, officials say they want the government to put more into researching the cause of the disease.
Swimming has proven to offer relief to asthma sufferers. To that end, Assemblyman Jose Rivera (D-Bronx) is proposing that all new schools in the Bronx install swimming pools.
