Bronx borough president launches new program to improve health in the Bronx

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion launched a new program Wednesday designed to improve health in the Bronx.

?Fit Now? is a campaign to get Bronx residents to go for regular checkups and to exercise regularly. Health officials say the Bronx often leads the city with serious ailments, asthma and diabetes. Carrion hopes with this new program, the number of illnesses will decrease.

As part of the program, Bronx hospitals will receive more medical equipment. Fitness and nutrition experts will also be at hospitals helping to set healthy examples for residents.
