Celebration held to honor senior citizens during Bronx Week festivities

Bronx Week festivities continued Thursday with a celebration to honor senior citizens and those who help them each day.

Approximately 700 seniors attended the Big Band Brunch at the Community Center in Mount Vernon. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion says seniors are the backbone of the community. The event is a way to say thank you to those who dedicated their lives to the Bronx.

Some people who attended were awarded for the work they do at senior centers. While many seniors just came out to enjoy the music, dancing and activities.
