City Council probes parking regulations and ticketing procedures

The City Council's Transportation Committee held a hearing Monday to look into parking regulations and ticketing procedures across the city.

The committee looked at whether the current traffic laws and rules are fairly enforced. Some officials feel residents in Bronx and citywide are ticketed rigorously because some violations infringe upon the safety of others. But others believe drivers are being ticketed just to meet quotas.

Traffic enforcement agents are given training on how to interpret signs, write traffic tickets properly and act appropriately in the field.
