Marine from the Bronx one of six killed in suicide car bombing in Iraq
Friends and family are in mourning for a Marine from the Bronx who was one of six people killed last week in a suicide car bombing in Iraq.
The Department of Defense says Corporal Ramona Valdez was killed when her convoy came under attack last Thursday in Fallujah. She was part of a unit assigned to various checkpoints around Fallujah.
Valdez, who would have turned 21 on June 26, was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the Bronx when she was six. She lived in the Bronx with her mother and sister until she was 17. Her family says she always dreamed of becoming a Marine.
