Summer meals program kicks off in schools across the Bronx

Free, nutritious meals are heading to Bronx schools as the citywide summer meal program kicks off.

Kids under the age of 19 will be served free breakfast and lunch at more than 350 city schools. This year the program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle by serving fresh fruits and vegetables. There will also be low-fat ice cream.

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 to 1:15 p.m. No registration is necessary.
