Bronx residents urged to plan ahead to beat the holiday traffic

A long holiday weekend means lots of traffic, so Bronx residents are urged to get a head start.

Experts say the July Fourth holiday is one of the busiest times of the year on the roadways. They urge drivers to plan ahead, leave early and pick a few alternate routes. In addition, those planning to drink should remember to designate a driver. The NYPD plans to have checkpoints set up throughout the city.

As for keeping your kids safe, experts say make sure any child under seven is in a seat restraint. The bottom line they say is to have fun, be smart and use common sense.
