Proposed Bronx motel may open doors to wrong clientele

If a new motel is built, they will come; just not who Bronx residents want to come into their neighborhood.

Bronx residents oppose the new motel that is to be constructed on an overgrown Pelham Parkway lot. Bronx community leaders say the proposed motel will open the doors for unwanted prostitution and drug trafficking. Residents claim they are not opposed to having a place of overnight rest and relaxation, so long as it is a classy hotel and not a breeding ground for illegal activity.

Bronx residents say they are not losing hours of sleep over the blueprints for the 43-room motel. Neighbors point out their previous success in battling similar motels.

The Bronx community says the Pelham Parkway lot would not continue to be a garden of weeds, instead they would like to utilize the space for an education complex.
