Bronx fire burns down three local businesses

Three Bronx businesses were destroyed Monday after a fire quickly spread through several buildings.

Investigators say the Jerome Avenue blaze began around 10:30 p.m. in a tire store. Witnesses say the manager of the store was cleaning tires when his air compressor sparked, igniting the blaze. Fire officials say the flames spread to an iron welding and auto body shop.

Investigators have not determined an official cause.
