Bronx officials delaying 14-year-old lawsuit

A 14-year-old lawsuit filed by Bronx residents against the city for hazardous wastes affecting their health is still in court.

In a collaborated effort, 13 families filed a $500 million lawsuit claiming the Pelham Bay landfill contains cancer and disease causing chemicals. Several of the landfill?s neighbors have contracted fatal illnesses while others are dealing with chemotherapy and additional treatments.

Prosecution lawyers say the city has filed a motion to dismiss the case. However, the defense refuses to comment.
