Some Bronx students say heat makes it difficult to concentrate in summer school
Some students at P.S. 130 in Longwood say the heat is making it difficult to concentrate in summer school.
Many parents say no air conditioning has been a problem at the school for the past few years. The Department of Education says there is no air conditioning because P.S. 130 is one of the oldest schools in the Bronx. The department adds it is difficult and costly to install an air conditioning system.
Some parents say relief from the heat should be a priority because many children have asthma. Department of Education officials say they are concerned about the children with asthma. They say a nurse has been placed in every school in case of an emergency.
