City officials offer Bronx residents tips on how to beat the heat
Summer loving is hard to embrace when the temperature Tuesday is set to hit the mid 90s but feel like 100 degrees.
With a heat advisory in affect, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has provided some tips for residents to try and beat the heat.
Residents are urged to stay out of the sun and remain indoors. If that?s not an option, it is recommended to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 15. OEM also advises wearing lightweight, light colored and loose fitting clothing. Finally, OEM asks people to refrain form alcoholic beverages and to replenish their systems with lots of water and diluted juices.
OEM wants residents to stay in cool and well ventilated areas, and is working to open public cooling centers.
