West Nile virus found in mosquito pools in Woodlawn, Baychester and Eastchester
City officials have confirmed that three mosquito pools in the Bronx have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The infected mosquitoes were collected from Woodlawn, Baychester and Eastchester. Due to the discovery, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has stepped up mosquito surveillance and larviciding in those areas.
Meanwhile, two Manhattan men are believed to have West Nile fever. Health officials say the men recently traveled outside of the city. Symptoms of West Nile include headache, fever and chills.
